They said some harsh things ??? of the current trend of turning TV serials into cinema box ??? But if the results were all as imaginative as Doomwatch ???? the process wouldn't seem ??? disheartening. The grim tale focuses on an off shore Scottish island where the locals are growing furtive physical peculiarities. The "Doomwatch" team (Ian Bannen, John Paul, Simon Oates) uncover the mystery (pollution on a dangerous scale), while the film polishes the art of science fiction to that point of compassion where it stops being merely chilling. Not for the first time, I note that Peter Sasdy is the director responsible for making superior-looking film one of a (Sorry can't see the rest!!!)
