DOOMWATCH RECONSTRUCTIONS

We all know that there are missing episodes of DOOMWATCH. Unfortunately, unlike DOCTOR WHO nobody has ever come forward with any off-air recordings of any of the affected episodes, although I was once contacted by one chap who told me that a friend had loads of cassette tapes from the 70s with various TV Shows recorded on them but I simply cannot find his details now. Very frustrating! On the plus side, ALL of the scripts exist in some form, so, I have had a totally mental idea...

There may be enough audio material from the existing episodes of DOOMWATCH to cut together a full audio track for a missing episode. Yes. really! It's an enormous task and there are problems...
The first being ,which episode to choose! Say Knife, Fat Man? Survival Code? hmm... Intonation and transcription present a problem also and if any music is covering up words too. Fortunately, there isn't a lot of music used in DOOMWATCH and if there are any words not covered across the series, the only way to fix it would be to read in the affected words or possibly replace the actor altogether.
Obviously, each episode of DOOMWATCH would need transcribing too... Which leads me on to another way of reconstruction inspired by DOCTOR WHO's recent "Shada" production...

If I can find enough of the original actors, there is the possibility of recreating an entire episode of DOOMWATCH and producing a totally new unofficial soundtrack. So if you are lucky enough to know any of the original actors that could be contacted for any of the missing episodes of DOOMWATCH (listed on this site, (a lot of which ,also featured in DOCTOR WHO), and are willing to supply just a few lines of dialogue, then please give us a shout on the Doomwatch Facebook page.

So, if you are British and have a high quality recording microphone and fancy taking part in any of this in any capacity, then please get in touch.  Hopefully, a short test scene will be made soon. Suggestions for which episode to recreate are most welcome...
